Reagan Kiyimba, a student in the Department of Journalism and Communication has won the 'Fact-check of the year by a student journalist', awarded by Africa Check. Kiyimba is a fourth-year journalism major.
Reagan Kiyimba is a budding journalist with big dreams who, out of the hallways of Makerere University, won the continental accolade 'Fact-check of the year by a student journalist', awarded by Africa Check.
According to Dr. Aisha Sembatya Nakiwala, Government needs to prioritise the humanities when addressing societal needs because they enable us to look at the social aspects of almost everything. For example by communicating knowledge from other disciplines, people will partake, accept and use this knowledge to support and implement national policies and plans
On 29th July 2016, the Department of Journalism and Communication at Makerere University was awash with news of the promotion of Assoc. Professor Goretti Nassanga to full Professor. This highly dedicated member of staff started off as a Lecturer and has since grown through the ranks to take up the most top coveted position in academia.
The Department of Journalism and communication (DJC) in conjunction with Uganda Christian University hosted this years’ East Africa Communications Association Conference, EACA, on 26th- 27th August with key discussions on media and communication in the regional bloc.
